Looks like the Bulb Eater® is taking yet another working vacation. The machine has spent time in Bermuda and aboard an Alaskan cruise ship, but this journey takes it on a lamp-crunching mission to Barbados. The Bulb Eater will be used to properly dispose of spent fluorescent lamps in order to prevent mercury from contaminating the local environment, according to this article in the Barbados Advocate.
“In such a beautiful country as Barbados, we have an opportunity to leapfrog technology that other organisations have developed over the years and make a difference […] I want to play my part to help our economy and environment,” noted Jim Reid, member of Barbados Renewable Energy Association, which spearheaded the effort to obtain the Bulb Eater.
The Bulb Eater® lamp crusher can reduce the overall costs of recycling large quantities of lamps by up to 50% over other methods, while safely preventing mercury from contaminating the facility or the environment. Learn more » Bulb Eater® lamp crusher
