3 Good Reasons to Recycle Spent Lamps

Monday, July 18, 2011

What do 19th-century hat-makers and today's facility managers have in common? The answer is that both have reason to take precaution against mercury exposure, according to this article from FacilitiesNet.

For facility managers, that means recycling their spent mercury-containing fluorescent lamps.

But workplace mercury hazard isn't the only reason to recycle. The article covers the recycling regulations and environmental risks that also make recycling a good idea.

Air Cycle Corporation recycling solutions make it easy to minimize the safety, compliance and environmental risks of fluorescent lamp disposal.

The Bulb Eater® can reduce overall recycling costs by up to 50% for large facilities, while EasyPak™ prepaid mail-in containers simplify recycling for small facilities. Click here to learn more.

Bulb Eater® Helps Merchandise Mart Recycle Lamps

Thursday, July 7, 2011

The Bulb Eater® plays a role in helping the Merchandise Mart, the world's largest commercial building (and one of the country's largest recyclers), stay "green" year-round, according to this video from Chicago's ABC7 News.

The Bulb Eater breaks down spent fluorescent bulbs for easy storage and transport for recycling, while safely capturing the mercury vapor from the lamps. "It all gets shipped in a barrel and gets turned back into light bulbs" said Kristen Pabst, assistant property manager at the Merchandise Mart.

The Bulb Eater can reduce overall lamp recycling costs by up to 50% by saving up to 20 hours of labor per 1000 lamps and 80% of the storage space of intact lamps. Click here to learn more or request pricing.
