U.S. EPA Reports Record Penalty Levels for 2010

Thursday, February 24, 2011

In 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency required polluters to pay over $110 million in civil penalties and $12 billion in environmental cleanup and other projects, the highest totals ever according to Waste Business Journal.

In a press release, the EPA stated that, when completed, the enforcement actions should reduce pollution by 1.4 billion pounds.

Staying compliant with waste disposal regulations is important not only to avoid the risk of monetary penalties, but also to maintain a reputation for environmental care and minimize the environmental impact of business operations.

With Air Cycle, recycling spent fluorescent lamps, ballasts, batteries, and
electronic waste is simple. EasyPak™ prepaid containers are perfect for recycling smaller amounts of waste.

For larger facilities, the Bulb Eater® lamp crushing system or Bulk Pickups are the most cost-effective recycling solutions. Click here for more information.

New Corporate UW Recycling Whitepaper from Air Cycle

Monday, February 7, 2011

A critical green practice for large organizations to implement is universal waste (UW) recycling. Recycling universal wastes ensures compliance with waste disposal regulations and reduces harmful environmental impacts.

But implementing UW recycling across the complex, multi-facility structure of a large corporation can pose challenges including minimizing recycling costs, ensuring organization-wide participation and measuring recycling progress.

A new whitepaper from Air Cycle reviews these challenges and explains how a corporate recycling program can solve them while generating additional benefits, like green marketing opportunities and reduced liability for improper disposal.
