Bulb Eater® Boosts Auburn Recycling

Recycling fluorescent lamps is often considered an overly expensive and time-consuming chore. But we at
Air Cycle believe that with a little help,
lamp recycling can be simple and easy for businesses and communities. And that's exactly what the city of Auburn, AL recently discovered.
When Recycling Division Manager Andre Richardson began looking for ways to recycle items the city normally doesn't, he found the Bulb Eater lamp crushing system to be a great fit, according to
this video from Alabama First News. According to Richardson, the Bulb Eater "reduces storage needs, minimizes handling of light bulbs, and creates a safer, cleaner work environment."

It's always nice to hear how the Bulb Eater helps make it easy and efficient for communities to recycle spent fluorescent lamps and the mercury they contain.

RIP: T12 Fluorescent Lamp

If your facility operates any of the millions of T12 fluorescent lamps currently in use, start planning to replace them with more efficient alternatives. In 2012, production of most T12 lamps will be phased out, following new DOE fluorescent lamp regulations effective that year.
These changes, along with the elimination of many T12 magnetic ballasts this year will compel many facility mangers to upgrade their lighting, according to a
recent article from Today's Facility Manager.
The article explains how T12s are regulated and offers insight on planning for the change, from installation methods and creating an upgrade timeline, to ensuring replacement lighting quality and efficiency.

The
Bulb Eater® lamp crushing system is the most efficient way to get rid of old T12 lamps in a safe and environmentally-friendly way.
